Streets 16s were hosted by their counter rivals Earlsdon at Mitchell Avenue to play out the now annual fixture in memory of Pop Harris as a curtain raiser for the new season.

Struggling for numbers street lads were aided by the sanctioned inclusion of 3 under 17 players who without, the game would sadly not have taken place.

From the KO U17 demon Adam Naylor Collected early ball and set off on a mazy run to tally 5 points and give the hosts an early shock. Andrew Vennard converted confidently to collect the extras.

Earlsdon regained their composure and started to pressurise street with their well drilled and considerably heavier pack. Street rose to the challenge and contained them for a 20 minute period strongly led by pack leader Scott McOwat. Under the constant pressure and after several missed penalty kicks with Earlsdon grasping for points, something had to give and finally the home side crossed the white line on 28 minutes.

Following the break the two evenly matched squads continued to battle with Earlsdons pack stifling the Broadstreet game plan to unleash their talented backs.

Then on 47 minutes the hosts registered their second try score and was followed by a number of unconverted penalties. Earlsdon continued with their strong pack deep in the street half enabling two further tries, late in the game.

Broadstreets defiant backs tried running from all over the pitch to retaliate through Vennard Naylor and Morgan, but to no avail. With the comparably diminutive forwards flagging in battle the game finished at.
