The Singapore Cricket Club has unveiled the SCC Rugby 7s 2010 which will be bigger and better than ever before! For the first time ever, the tournament will be played over three days and nights, from 5-7 November. An expanded pool of 28 teams includes national squads from South Africa, Japan, Hong Kong, USA, Namibia and Sweden, as well as the world-famous Penguins.

Other new additions to the event include the first ever international Ladies tournament and the Singapore National Schools and Colleges 7s championship. With continued expansion of the tournament, several broadcast partners have come on board to support the development of rugby in Singapore. The finals of the tournament will be screened live in Singapore by local channel SuperSports Arena, while World Sports Group will produce highlights packages to be distributed around the region and beyond. AXN, the English language entertainment channel, has also become the first ever lifestyle TV partner.

In the lead-up to the tournament, the Singapore Cricket Club 7s squad is undergoing its most rigorous preparation yet, as the team hopes to improve on Plate semi-finals finishes in the past two years. This year’s squad contains current Singapore, Cyprus and Switzerland internationals, as well as players who have represented England, Ireland and USA in age-grade rugby. In their first run-out of the season, SCC reached the cup semi-finals of the Shanghai International 7s last weekend (4-5 September). An online video diary (www.youtube.com/sccrugby7s) will follow the fortunes of the squad as they prepare for the biggest event on their rugby calendars.
