Your News Women's RWC Pool deciders are a sell out

For the third match day in succession tournament organisers have confirmed that the full house signs will be up at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford on Saturday, August 28 as the pool phase of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2010 reaches a dramatic conclusion.

In the race for semi final places hosts England face USA (18.30) with Ireland playing Kazakhstan (16.30) with all but the Asian champions still in with a chance of reaching the final four.

In Pool A defending champions New Zealand will face Wales (14.00 local time), while Australia take on South Africa (16.15) in Pool A.

The Pool C decider will see France play Canada (14.15) for the automatic semi final spot, after Scotland play Sweden (12.00) in the opening game of the day.

“We are delighted to see so many fans from so many nations come and support the Women’s Rugby World Cup here at Surrey Sports Park,” said IRB Tournament Director Philippe Bourdarias.

“The matches have been hugely entertaining and fans have enjoyed a festival atmosphere with some wonderful skill and breathtaking moments of superb Rugby on display. I am sure Saturday will be the same, with the added incentive of semi final places up for grabs. With over 8,000 fans expected through the gate for the Pool stages, this is a record-breaking success for Women’s Rugby World Cup”.

To accommodate the demand for the thousands of fans who purchased tournament passes, organisers have also confirmed that matches will begin earlier than previously advertised on Sunday, September 5 at Surrey Sports Park, allowing fans to attend matches at both there and at the Twickenham Stoop where the WRWC Final and the 3rd and 4th place play offs take place.

The new start times at Surrey Sports Park on September 5th are as follows:

Match 25 Kick-off at 11:00 (local time) on Pitch 2

Match 26 Kick-off at 11:15 (local time) on Pitch 1

Match 27 Kick-off at 13:15 (local time) on Pitch 2

Match 28 Kick-off at 13:30 (local time) on Pitch 1

Rosie Williams, RFUW Managing Director, added: “We have had fantastic support from rugby fans from around the world here at Surrey Sports Park and the appetite for high-class Women’s Rugby has been phenomenal. We want to ensure that as many people as possible can attend matches, particularly those who purchased a tournament pass which allows them access to every match.

“Surrey Sports Park has proved to be a tremendous venue for this event and for Saturday we have been able to increase the ground capacity from 2,500 to 3,000 people. With the semi finals and the finals being staged at the Twickenham Stoop next week, we are expecting even bigger numbers to come and support this record-breaking Women’s Rugby World Cup.”
