England legend Jason Robinson, the only player to score a try for England in a Rugby World Cup final, says that his return to competitive rugby is about developing the players around him.
On the week of his 36th birthday Robinson announced he will play for Fylde RFC in National Two North next season and will be reunited with his former England head coach Brian Ashton.
Robinson won 51 caps for England and told this week’s RFU.com podcast: “I appreciate what I have been able to do in my rugby career but this isn’t about me, it’s about working with other people and helping them to get better.
“I came to rugby union and Brian Ashton was my first coach and then I finished and Brian Ashton was my last coach in 2007 at the World Cup. It’s amazing to be working with him again.”
