A win in Cornwall was not part of the script for Teignmouth, after relegation was confirmed in March, and a defeat in the Devon junior cup final away to Bideford.

Last weekend ,the long trip to mid table Falmouth had home win written all over it. Both sides played attractive rugby, although Falmouth didn’t take advantage of the strong wind, and it was on 40 minutes before any points were recorded when Home prop Andy Palmer made a 30 yard dash down the wing to score in the corner although the conversion was missed.Just before the break stand-off for the Visitors, Ivan Pitman looked like he would close the gap from a penalty but the strong breeze dragged the ball wide.

Prop George Mowson who hasn’t missed a game this season, was finding plenty of time and space as the home side found him and number 8 Colin Aldworth difficult to handle, had to limp off in the first half with ankle ligament damage, this saw the introduction of Colins younger brother Dan who stepped up to the mark and impressed everyone with his strength and ball carrying which gained plenty of territory from which the backs could forge their attacks.

Pitman was replaced by Callum Couch, and Dan Force moved to stand-off,and his first duty was to kick a penalty after Falmouth had infringed, this lead to an end to end last 10 minutes with Teignmouth looking the stronger side with some strong tackling by forwards Chris Jones and captain Andy Kinmond, and some excellent lineout play from second row forwards Lee Oxley and Tom Dunn. With a few minutes on the clock Paul Jelley who was playing in his third position as Hooker in the match, won a penalty just in side the home sides half, which Force belted as the wind picked up and the ball sailed over to put Teignmouth in front as the final whistle went.

The Teigns play their last league game at Bitton park next Saturday against Crediton, there is a buffet lunch before the match as a thank you to all the club's sponsors

Kick off 3.00pm.
