Two well matched sides contributed to a tense and exciting game. Ultimately this hard fought encounter was won by the side that took its chance. Neither side lacked for attacking enterprise but the game was characterised by determined defence from both teams. The game was played with all the fervour and passion befitting a cup final. In the early stages the Woodbridge forwards dominated but were unable to prevent Sudbury enjoying territorial advantage. The game turned in favour of Woodbridge when Will (speedy)? intercepted a pass on the half way line and ran in to score under the posts. Angus Perry converted. Woodbridge then resisted Sudbury pressure until half time.

In the second half Woodbridge began to secure territorial advantage and nearly went further ahead but were brought down just short of the line. As the game progressed Sudbury threw all they had into attack. The last five minutes were very tense as Sudbury camped in the Woodbridge 22, but great defence kept them at bay and Woodbridge were delighted to finish the game winning by 7 points to nil. This was a great team effort where every player contributed to a most satisfying victory.
