Your News Woodbridge Warriors size up Newmarket after Thetford victory

In glorious winter sunshine Woodbridge, playing into the sun, set the tone and gained turn-over ball from a great effort in the second scrum of the game. Adrian Sanday kicked over and forced Thetford to put down in their own goal area and concede a 5m scrum to Warriors. Three minutes later and No 8, Johno Cooke picked up from the back of the scrum, passed to Eddie Johnson who quickly passed back for Cooke to drive over. The visitors consolidated this good start after a line-out when the Thetford fly-half, whod kicked the majority of balls received, fumbled over his own line and his opposite number, Josh Kimber, pounced to score. After some sustained pressure from Thetford, Woodbridge regained possession and Eddie Johnson again kicked over for Lewis Ballard to score. Half time Thetford 0 - Woodbridge 15.

Despite a chill in the air, Woodbridge started the second half as they had ended the first - with a spring in their step . Tries from Duncan Andrews, converted by Josh Kimber, and replacement winger Iain Johnson put them 27 points ahead. Thetford reacted with a converted try from a chip through the middle following a driving maul and by getting 2 players red carded. Woodbridges Iain Johnson took the final 5 points with his second try to give the Warriors a confident 7-32 victory, their 6th consecutive win and set up a barnstorming home tie against table-topping Newmarket next week.
