Your News Bury 2XV 27 - Woodbridge 2XV 7

On a dry, cool, breezy day in Bury, Woodbridge 2nds immediately found themselves under pressure but defended well quickly forcing favourites Bury to concede a penalty for killing the ball. From the lineout Burys excellent no 9, Martin Palmer, kicked to Julian Hobday and stole the ball to launch their backs who were energetic in attack all afternoon. Good lineout ball from Woodbridge was intercepted forcing a 5m scrum from which Burys omnipresent Palmer scored. Woodbridge fought on resolutely and gradually bought their backs into play to good effect with some threatening runs, particularly from John Yorke and Lewis Ballard. Despite a good period of pressure in Burys half Palmer again got a break to score in convertible territory.

Woodbridge started the second half with increased commitment and their threequarters saw much more of the ball. Bury continued to play kicking tennis and spearheaded a camping trip to the visitors 5m area to win a penalty for offside kicked by their No 10. Some great driving by Woodbridges Jono Cooke and Jez Hannon helped Captain Nathan Taylor put John Yorke over for Charlie Gird to convert. Bury werent expecting that and put up some high octane retribution from the off and eventually their no 10 Matt Trede scored and converted.
