Your News Isle of Man boost for rugby visitors

Rugby-mad youngsters heading for the Isle of Man on holiday in August will have an ideal opportunity to enjoy some pre-season preparations as an additional alternative to spending their time on the beach or at the many attractions the island has to offer.

The Rugby Football Union will be running a 3 Day Rugby Camp on the August 25/27 at King William's College for players aged from 6 to 13 years of age.

The camp will be Coached by RFU qualified Level 2 and 3 Coaches who will be coaching a wide range of Rugby skills, covering running, passing, evasion, kicking, tactics, tackling, attack and defence. These will be done in age specific groups and all safety aspects will be taken into account.

The players will learn individual, unit and team skills and techniques that will help them to develop as Rugby players and also help to develop confidence in those abilities.

The Rugby Development Officer on the Isle of Man, Ian Williams said: "Once again it is great to have the RFU Rugby Camp here on the Island. There will be lots of opportunities to increase the players' knowledge and skills of Rugby during the 3 days.

"While the course is designed to benefit young rugby players from the island, visitors are welcome to enrol and share in the initiative, which will not only help to improve their rugby, but also enable them to make new friends. It's a chance not to be missed, both for the youngsters and, dare I say, their parents, who are always on the lookout for different things to do on holiday.

"The Isle of Man is a great place to visit and has lots of attractions. Our rugby course simply adds another dimension for the children who enjoy rugby."

The Camp runs from 9.45am till 4.00pm on all three days at a cost of 65.00. Players will be required to bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink and appropriate sports clothing.
