Your News Bournemouth Sevens Becomes World's Largest Festival

With the announcement of a staggering 132 teams competing at the sunny south coast event the Bournemouth Sevens International Rugby and Music Festival has become the largest festival in the world over taking renowned tournaments such as Dubai and Hong Kong Sevens.

The success of the inaugural festival in 2008 has resulted in the tournament being a sell out five months prior to the event. Crowds of 20,000 people will be revelling in the festival atmosphere over the May Bank Holiday from the 22nd- 24th May 2009.

Former British Lion and Leicester Tigers scrum half, Austin Healey, will be twinkle-toeing his way down to Bournemouth Sevens, and following his popularity on the BBCs Strictly Come Dancing show is sure to be a huge crowd puller.

Bournemouth Sevens is a fantastic weekend- its fun for all of the family and is definitely the highlight of the rugby calendar.

Although having seen the line up of teams in the Bournemouth Sevens I would rather be putting my dancing shoes on again for Strictly than coming up against these players! said Healey.

Healey will be joined by England rugby internationals Lewis Moody and Olly Barkley as well as other celebrities in the VIP Pitchside Marquee who will be signing autographs and posing for photos with the Webb Ellis Trophy all weekend.

Bournemouth Sevens creates a unique carnival atmosphere with fancy dress a must for all festival revellers; SKY, BBC and ITV are all broadcasting from the event so costumes must stand for your chance to get on TV!
