Your News National League 2 North review

A bumper crowd of 1,250 turned up to see Darlington Mowden Park begin life at the Northern Echo Arena in great style. DMP produced an excellent display of rugby in the inaugural game at their new home, running in nine tries including a four-timer for winger Sean McCartney to beat Bromsgrove 62-7.

DMP remain third in the SSE National Two North table behind Hull Ionians and Stourbridge. Left wing Tom Jarvis crossed twice for leaders Stourbridge in a 30-14 win over Caldy, while Ionians outscored Huddersfield seven tries to one to win 46-7.

City rivals, Hull, became only the second team this season to leave Cross Green with the points. Stephen Slingsby, William Kay and Daniel White scored Hulls tries in a 26-21 win over hosts Otley.

Dudley Kingswinfords search for an elusive away win continues after they went down to a 36-7 defeat at Preston Grasshoppers. Hoppers move up to fourth in the table as a result of the victory their 11th of the season. Loose-head prop Andrew Irving touched down twice inside the first 20 minutes, while there were further scores for Karl Fitzpatrick, Matthew Hughes, Eddie Webster and Adam Birchell.

Like DK, Stockport have yet to break their duck on the road. Sheffield Tigers proved too strong for the leagues bottom club at Dore Moor, scoring tries through Pete Swatkins (2), James Broadley, William Wallace, Andrew Barnes and Steven Walker to win 42-12.

Birmingham & Solihull moved 16 points clear of danger at the foot of the table after a 34-31 win away to relegation rivals Westoe. Scrum-half Jack Jolly kicked four conversions and two penalties in a game where both sides picked up try-bonus points.

Leicester Lions scored four tries before the interval to lay the foundations for a 34-24 win at home to Luctonians. Full-back Jack Stokes crossed the visitors line twice.
