Blackheath flanker Dave Allen scored four tries to help Blackheath maintain their proud record against Cambridge. Club won 35-18 their sixth success in seven league meetings between the sides at The Rectory Field but they were made to work hard for the points. With the scores tied at 10-all at the interval the result could have gone either way. However Blackheath came out firing for the second period and never looked back once Allen had crossed for his hat-trick try a few minutes into the half.

With all bar one of the five sides above them in the table winning at the weekend, Blackheath were unable to make up any ground in the league standings and remain in sixth place.

Of the top half of the table sides only Cinderford tasted defeat, the Forresters going down 19-12 away to Esher. Cinderford battled bravely despite the loss of two men to the sin-bin and were rewarded with a bonus point their eighth of the season.

Leaders Ealing show no sign of easing off after registering their seventh bonus-point victory of the season at Wharfedale. Ealing ran in five tries to win 41-17.

Second-placed Rosslyn Park also managed five tries two late scores from winger Nev Edwards proving crucial in a 37-17 win at near-neighbours Richmond. The derby game was watched by a bumper crowd of 1,437 by some margin the highest in the division this season.

Micky Wards third-placed Blaydon side continues to impress after taking maximum points from their trip to Loughborough Students. There were five different try-scorers on the day for Blaydon, with one of them fly-half Andy Baggett also scoring 12 points from the kicking tee.

Blaydons north-east rivals Tynedale succumbed to a shock 27-21 defeat at home to lowly Macclesfield. Tynedale have now slipped to fourth defeats in a row, while Macclesfield have picked up points in each of their last three games to move off the bottom.

Elsewhere, Danny Birchalls injury-time try saw Fylde edge out Coventry at The Woodlands and Old Albanians beat Sedgley Park 31-9 at home in a five-try display.
