Your News Woodbridge 30 - Broadlands Great Yarmouth 12

Woodbridge started well applying pressure from the off having won the away fixture earlier in the season. Broadlands were forced to kick in defence against fast chasing forwards and even had to touch down in their own goal area. Their high penalty count, mainly for hands in the ruck, allowed Bruce to take six penalty points for an early lead.

In a physical game tensions mounted as the Warrior pack picked and drove to keep the advantage, White, Cooke and flanker Gray in particular. Broadlands looked the bigger team and were efficient in disrupting some set pieces however Woodbridge were so fast after the ball that they harried and supported each other well to frustrate the visitors into penalties and panic defence. In such a charge Rose broke to put his winger over and, after a period defending from deep, Harris drove well before Barton scored from his own chip and chase.

The men from Great Yarmouth returned invigorated and despite more penalties put their hosts on the back foot. However a penalty kick was recovered well and Smith carried the ball back to the visitors 22, passed to Cooke who dragged two defenders with him to score. Undeterred Broadlands countered and Ledgerwood broke away to score after kicking through and evading the Warrior full back, encouraged they rallied and launched a well worked attack on the left with their forwards establishing repeated platforms to mix drives with running backs for Collings to score. The resurgence ended there however as the game ended with Cooke feeding Smith who ran in and scored under the post for the bonus point.
