Your News Berkshire U20 start campaign with visit of Dorset & Wiltshire

Berkshire U20s, having missed out on their National U20 Championship opening match away to Oxfordshire last Sunday, due to the snow, now prepare to open their seasons account with this Sundays (Feb 12) visit of Dorset & Wilts to Reading RFCs Holme Park ground, kick-off 2-30pm.

Coach Mike Tewkesbury has announced a similar squad that includes nine players from the University of Reading team.

He says We were all geared up for the start of the campaign last weekend so its been disruptive for the lads and, of course Dorset & Wilts do have a game under their belts so they will have the advantage.

But, the twin counties will be licking their wounds after their opening weekends 15-12 home defeat at the hands of Buckinghamshire

As Dorset & Wilts team manager Richard Demain-Griffiths says: The players and management are rueing their initial loss to a combative Buckinghamshire team and are looking to put things right this weekend by playing the sort of rugby we know we can.

One huge positive from the previous game was the team spirit and camaraderie the lads showed even when down to 14 men and behind.

The boys still pushed on and, in the end, were only narrowly defeated.

We hope to take this character with some finer execution in to the game this weekend.
