Teignmouth Under 15’s put in a much improved performance against Ivybridge.
Playing up the slope, Teignmouth defended well but were unable to stop Ivybridge crossing their try line twice for a half time score 14 – 0.
In the second half Ivybridge extended their lead with two more tries. Teignmouth battled continually and eventually were rewarded with the best try of the game when winger, Sam Simmonds, took a quick line out to full-back Ross Manester. The ball was spread wide to opposite winger Louis Walker who set up the ruck. Open-side flanker Jake Allison, who had an outstanding game, was on hand to secure the ball followed by more support; they recycled the ball which was spun out again back to Simmonds who scored in the corner.
Teignmouth for the first time began to believe in themselves and Jake Monnington bulldozed his way over the line.
Teignmouth never really left Ivybridge’s half in the last 10 minutes but were held out on several occasions by good defensive work. Final Score 28 – 10.
With Newton Abbot away next week this was a very encouraging display.
