Loughborough Students took another confident step towards claiming the promotion play- off spot with a 30-6 win at Kendal. The Students are now just two

points behind second- placed Leicester Lions and with a game in hand. Dave Morris’ side conclude their campaign with two home games – against Nuneaton

and Westoe, who still have an outside chance of finishing runners- up behind champions Fylde. The Lions face a final day fixture at Huddersfield.

Loughborough failed to take maximum points in Cumbria, scoring three tries through Fred Silcock, Charles Matthews and Ed Rolston, all of them converted

by Matthew Keville, who added three penalties for a personal tally of 15 points.

For the third week in a row winger Simon Bradshaw booted Morley to a much- needed victory. Bradshaw stepped up deep into stoppage time to strike the

penalty that settled Saturday’s game against Huddersfield and continues the belief within the Maroons’ camp that they can beat the drop. Peter Seabourne’s

side came from behind to score 10 unanswered points in the second half to leave themselves just two points adrift of Hull Ionians and safety. The final

relegation place will now be decided by Morley’s clash with Ionians on May 21 whatever the outcome of their game in hand against Manchester on Saturday.

Harrogate guaranteed themselves a top half of the table finish with a 32-22 victory at home to Hull. ‘Gate, who could end as high as sixth, outscored the

visitors five tries to four, with winger Luke Edwards crossing twice.
