HAWKS VISIT YORKHILL

This morning saw Glasgow Hawks players and officials take a trip to visit the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, affectionately known as Yorkhill, to hand out some Christmas gifts to the children.

The Hawks have a connection with Yorkhill through Brian Simmers who is the Chairman of Yorkhill Childrens Foundation and stalwart of Glasgow Hawks rugby.

The trip was organised by Hawks Development Manager Grant Talbot and was made possible by the work of Abigail Stein, Corporate and Events Fundraiser, who organised the trip and took the players and coaches round the wards to visit the children.

Each child was given a Rugby Goodie Bag which had a selection box, stress rugby ball, rugby magazine, Hawks programme, pens, pencils and 4 tickets to the Hawks v Edinburgh Accies rugby game in January.

The players and coaches visited the outpatients department where they handed out goodie bags and had photos taken with lots of the children, they then moved onto the Schiehallion Ward where the players handed out goodie bags and had their photos taken with some patients.

Hawks director of rugby, Peter Wright, commented on the mornings experience - its very humbling to go along to Yorkhill and see the great work that all the staff do and to see the smiles on the faces of the kids and parents at what is a very difficult time

Special thanks must go to Peter Wright, Graeme Davidson, Mike Adamson, Dean Kelbrick and Grant Talbot from the Hawks for giving up their time to hand out the gifts and spend time with the children.
