Your News Sale star looks to be headed to Northampton

Another of the current Sale Sharks squad look set to sign for Northampton Saints who will be hoping to rejoin the Guinness Premiership next season. Jim Mallinder has recruited fitness and conditioning coach Nick Johnston a few weeks ago and was followed by centre Chris mayor who joined the National 1 team last week.

It now seems that former Sale player Mallinder may well have gained the services of up and coming star Ben Foden who was one of the in form players in the Premiership before injuring a shoulder playing for the England Sevens side in November. Talks are on-going but money is not the only point of contention as Foden wants to play scrum half even though his great form saw him starting most of the games from full back. Saints seem to have promised Foden he can have the shirt whilst Saint-Andre, the Sale Director of Rugby has said that is something he can not guarantee.

Sale will be joined by Welsh scrum half Dwayne Peel next season as well as having Richard Wigglesworth in their squad. Wigglesworth will gain his first starting cap for England this weekend against France in Paris and will put up a strong defence of the number 9 shirt when Peel arrives. Foden is likely to want more chances to play and Saint-Andre can only offer him the chance to play full back and cover the number 9 shirt.
