Everything Rugby Visit National Schools 7s

Some of the biggest rugby playing schools in the country were gathered at the Harlequins training ground yesterday for the Colts (U16) National School 7s competition. Schools including Millfield, Sedbergh, Ampleforth and Welsh school Brynteg were all competing and some fantastic rugby was on display despite the deteriorating conditions. Sedbergh were affected by their strength with 4 players missing out due to England call ups. However, this did not seem to hamper their progression through the early stages as they proved to be a very useful outfit. Tonbridge squeezed past Millfield 17 - 14 after the West Country school, previously attended by Matt Perry of Bath and England, had beaten Colstons. Sedbergh slipped up against Welsh school Brynteg who then went all the way to the final where they took on a strong Tonbridge side in terrible conditions. The Kent school dominated the opening exchanges and took the lead but toward the end of the first half they looked to have tired slightly and Brynteg gradually took control of the game, eventually coming out as winners, 14 - 5.
